A Fascinating History

Built back in 1635, Stirk House exudes character and many authentic features can still be seen today, including a magnificent stone arch above the fireplace and even the original doorway which continues to welcome guests to this special place after all these years. Constructed using stonework from the former Sawley Abbey, dismantled a century earlier during Henry VIII’s dissolution of the monasteries, Stirk House has been unique from its very beginning. The building has stood through two world wars and survived a devastating fire before becoming the highly acclaimed venue we know and love.

Separate to the main house is The Lodge which comprises of 11 ground-floor rooms and all feature spectacular views of the estate grounds and surrounding countryside.
