At Stirk House we are lucky enough to be surrounded by 22 acres of glorious Ribble Valley countryside, and we now have two areas that are fully approved and licensed by Lancashire Registration Service for outdoor ceremonies. We have put together some key information for you to read through when considering your outdoor ceremony.
Which areas are licensed for outdoor ceremonies with the Registrar? We have two areas licensed: Pendle View and the Stirk Tree. Pendle View is the lawned area by the patio leading off the Ballroom overlooking Pendle Hill. The Stirk Tree is an ancient Sycamore surrounded by decking and is lit with strings of fairy lights to create a magical setting and is accessed via a gravel path.
Is there any extra cost to have an outdoor ceremony? There is an additional fee of £250.00 if you opt for an outdoor ceremony, this is in addition to the ceremony room hire cost to cover additional staff to set up and take down the outdoor ceremony. The outdoor ceremony can be booked at paid for anytime before midday the day before your wedding.
What if it is raining? When you book an outdoor ceremony, it is a legal requirement for the hotel to have a contingency plan indoors so the Gallery Suite will always be available too.
Who makes the final decision on the day if the weather is hit and miss? The registrars run the ceremony; therefore, they have the final decision whether the wedding can go ahead outdoors.
Can I have more guests for an outdoor ceremony? It is possible to sit more people for an outdoor ceremony; however, you must be aware that it is moved indoors then the Gallery is only licensed for 113 guests and therefore, you will need to decide which of the guests will need to wait outside the room.
What will we do for music? We have an outdoor speaker that has Bluetooth connection – please ensure the device you use has a Bluetooth connection. If you have a musician / singer booked, please ensure they are happy to play outdoors. Please note by there is no electricity at the Stirk Tree.
Please be aware the Stirk Tree is only accessible by a gravel path which is not suitable for wheelchair access.
